I try to be, and please note that says try... a positive person MOST of the time. As long as I can remember I always have. When I was younger, before I drove, during stressful times or times that required thinking or longing I would write, or play music & dance at home or find a way to make myself laugh real hard. I still do some of those things at times but one of my most favorite ways to calm down or relax is to take a long ride to NO where, listen to my favorite music, sing and look at things that would be interesting to Photograph & of course get out and take some interesting shots. I am not always a social butterfly. I love to laugh though so don't get me wrong I am always up for a good laugh with anybody.
My interest in Photography started when I was pretty young. I always had some sort of dinky camera I would play around with and take photos of myself over and over again try to make them look good. When I was in 9th grade I got my first Canon Rebel I took Photography classes at Rogers High School. I made all my friends & family pose for me over and over and again I took photos of myself and tried to create the perfect photo all with film photography. My parents were always upset with me for buying so much film and developing it.
Then for about 20 years or so I let the passion I had for it die. I did other things because I had to live life. I did not know how to LOVE what I do. Although I enjoyed the things I did along the way, I did not have the passion for those things, I have for Photography. I worked at dunking donuts, I became a CNA, I worked in many nursing homes. Then in 1996 I began working for LIFE inc with people with Developmental Disabilities. In 2003 I moved to Worcester and began working for Seven Hills Foundation with People with Developmental Disabilities, I was named Employee of the year Community Services 2004, in 2005 I became a Residence Director and I am currently still a Director. Last Year I Completed an 18 month Emerging Leaders Course with Seven Hills and will continue to learn and grow.
About 2 years ago I began noticing things again, although I always admired peoples cameras and great photos through the years. I began starting to feel the urge to start learning and shooting again. Don't get me wrong I have always had a nice camera, I have always taken an excessive amount of photos, I just never did anything with them.
In June of 2011 my apartment was broken into and my at that time my Digital Canon Rebel T3 EOS (because I was a creature of habit and although I had sampled a Pentax K1000, was sticking with the canon) was stolen along with all my SD cards and flash drives. BUMMED I thought to myself I will try a new camera, and fell in love with the NIKON~ I got so much more into Photography than ever before.
